 Today we talked about vocabulary and formal vs informal language. I struggle a-lot with spelling and punctuation and look forward to improving. We learned about conjunctions and how slang can make your writing informal.

 Today we finished up the movie Fences and took our test.  Although I missed a lot of school I think I did well on the test. I enjoyed the assignment about imagining what Troy was up to for the 7 years.

 Today we read and analyzed some of the text from fences , in the text we found out that Troy had gotten another woman pregnant after 18 years with Rose. Then found out the other women Alberta had died giving birth. I did not expect Troys behavior but I was also not surprised.  I don’t think his argument was justified about him “stealing second”. He is hurting everyone around him. I think he lives very selfishly and expects his woman to just except it. He took away Rose’s dreams also.

 Today we read more of “fences”. We analyzed the text and talked about how we as students would feel being out on the street as 14 year old’s. We also tried to put ourselves in the characters shoes. We read that even in the north parts of America during the time, it was hard for a young black person to get a job.  Crime and poverty is always connected.
